Blueberry Banana Yogurt

Ingredients:
1 cup blueberries
1 whole banana
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons wheat germ

Method:
Microwave the blueberries just until the juices start to run, about 30 seconds.
Place the banana, yogurt and blueberries in a blender and puree until smooth.

Baby's own custard

Ingredients:
100mls baby's regular milk - breast milk or prepared formula
2 teaspoons custard powder or arrowroot

Method:
Pour breast milk or prepared formula into a small saucepan and heat gently.
In a small bowl mix custard powder with a little water to a thin paste.
Add to milk and stir until mixture thickens. Spoon out required amount into baby's bowl.
Allow to cool. Refrigerate remaining portion.

Apple Rice

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon infant rice cereal
1 tablespoon apple purée
Apple juice (optional)

Method:
Mix cereal and apple, then mix with apple juice to a 'sloppy' consistency.
Place 1-2 tablespoons in baby's serving bowl, then place remainder in Baby Cube containers and refrigerate. (This will thicken in fridge. Thin with a little extra juice or water before serving.)

Variation: Substitute pear, apricot or banana purée for apple purée. Use commercial fruit purées, with no added sugar, if you only need small quantities.

Banana purée

Ingredients:
1 small ripe banana
1-2 teaspoons of baby rice
2 tablespoons of breastmilk or formula

Method:
Mash the banana well until smooth.
Mix the rice and milk, and stir into the banana.
Adjust the texture with milk or rice to make a runnier or firmer purée.

Apple and raspberry purée

Ingredients:
100g raspberries
1 large cox apple, peeled, cored and diced

Method:
Place in pan and cook over a low heat for 5-8 minutes until soft.
Purée and sieve out seeds. Serve just warm.
